Update on Barbara Cummings

This is an update on Barbara Cummings from her daughter.

Good Morning Family and Friends,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update about mom, Barbara Cummings. Thank you for patiently waiting.

We are seeing positive and apparent answers to the prayers of so very MANY! They are answers with incremental steps along with some anticipated good news that we are still awaiting.

THANK YOU! Thank you all for your concern, your sincere love, your caring messages, sweet cards, and powerful and faithful prayers.

Mom was given the biological med/infusion last week that is specific to her diagnosis of severe Chrons/Ulcerative Colitis.
Q) Why did I add both of those digestive diseases?
A) They are of the same digestive disease family, but have some uniqueness one from the other.
The GI Specialist and his team are leaning toward Chrons as the formal diagnosis, but the testing that was done to confirm such had to be aborted halfway through the process due to the severity of mom’s condition. Even still, Chrons and Ulcerative Colitis would be treated the same right now. Also, mom is currently being treated for more than just Chrons due to the side effects that have occurred because of it.
Q) What are some of those side effects?
A) Protein deficiency and other imbalances, weight loss, etc.

We anticipate taking mom home to Texarkana later in the week after she has had another infusion med for Chrons, has consumed a certain amount of calories each day for the next couple of days, and attained certain physical rehabilitation goals. When she is transferred to Texarkana she will go to a rehabilitation hospital where her occupational, physical, respiratory, and other strength and recovery needs are given great focus.

Toward the end of last week mom was strong enough to begin reading your many uplifting comments on the Facebook updates which really helped her as they reminded her of the community of faith, hope, and love.

Dad and I both realize we’ve left some private messages and texts unanswered. I went back through my phone this morning and took notice of some I had read and meant to send a reply.....but, apparently, I was sidetracked and didn’t. I’ve also seen this morning some messages that I’ve not yet opened. I’m getting to those today. Thank you for remaining patient while continuing to pray over Barbara. As for dad’s messages—he cares a great deal about them and is full of gratitude—but it’s less his nature to be a “texter.” Some of you get it and feel the same way, I’m sure. I’ll be picking up his phone later today to see that I direct his family, friends, and colleagues to this post. In the meantime, feel free to help me by sharing this update so that the multitudes who’ve been involved alongside us can indeed be updated.

On behalf of Dad and his best girl,

Thank you!!
