Let the Children Come Unto Me

July 21,20

Support Missionary Nayara Silva is serving in Quito, Ecuador.  She saw a need on the seminary campus where she is living.   Although Nayara is serving as Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) Regional Assistant for the South America Region, she noticed that the children needed a little help socializing together.  Nayara started teaching classes every 2 weeks. Since the 9 children represNayaraenting 7 different world areas are multicultural, she chose the theme, "What is my Identity?" There are topics such as, "Understanding my emotions and feelings", "Being conscious of who am I", and "Who can I be in relation to God". This is very important for children to learn at this age and during this time.

When asked, why she wanted to start this ministry, Nayara's reply was, "I said 'here I am' to the Lord, I saw the need, and was willing to serve them. Children that are in another culture need to be cared for and loved on."

Nayara holds 2 classes with the 9 children with help from some of the mothers.  The children are missionary children and seminary staff children.

Children's ministry is not a new ministry for Nayara as she spent 2 months in Kenya, Africa, serving among children and teenagers through a partnership between her sending church, the Evangelical Missions Center, and the Church of the Nazarene of Kenya. She has served in ministry with children most of her life.
