Kingdom Work Continues

A year ago a Work and Witness team from Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene in Goshen, IN had a rough start with the death of one of the 8 member team and was directed to another ministry in Quito.  March this year, the church returned to the same intended project as the year before, in Veracruz, Ecuador along the Paztaza River.

These are children in the church a year ago and the one on the right is the pastor's daughter.

The team arrived at the little town of Veracruz, to a beautiful property outside of town, on Sunday night to a roomful of children and parents waiting to meet their new friends. They prayed, sang and danced together and then the parents went to their meeting while the team played various games with the children.

The team worked hard for a week on putting up the roof structure, as well as helping with painting some classrooms and pouring a patio landing at the bottom of the stairs.  The team also helped to make sure that the building would be secure by installing doors and windows so hopefully, they could start having classes and meetings soon.

Every day the team shared Bible stories, as well as songs and crafts with the children in the small meeting area.  It was evident that the new building was much needed for the growth that had taken place.  A year ago when the team met with the church there were 4 children and a couple of adults.  This week sometimes there were as many as 75 children with the mothers standing outside the small building peeking over the top of the gate to see what their children were being taught.  On the last day, the mothers made a special effort to let each team member how much they appreciated the love and kindness they showed to their children during the week.

The Lord protected the team and kept them safe and healthy during the week.  The church people, along with DS Mario Paredes fed them delicious breakfast and lunch every day accompanied by amazing fruit and vegetables.

The Crossroads church believes in the ministry of building churches with children that Rev. Mario Paredes from the Sierra Centro District has developed. They have built a 4-year partnership with Mario to help with different projects on the district and at the same time, they are a part of a church that continues to open new satellite churches from their main church.

Please pray for Pastors Jose Luis and Alex of the Veracruz church who needs parents to step up as workers to come alongside them in ministry to help with the growth of the church.
