Compassion in Times of Crises

In the midst of the complicated social, political, and economic difficulties experienced by Venezuela they are now experiencing the Covid19. It is a constant choice between "staying at home" to prevent the accelerated spread of the virus or going out on the street to search for food, which on many occasions can occupy a whole day.

The churches respond to these challenges. One of the many churches responding is the El Caujaro Church of the Nazarene in Maracaibo, who bless the families of the church and community most affected. They deliver bags of food and other supplies, especially to homes where the elderly and children live.

Every week they also make 300 meals of soup to give to the elderly while the Sunday School ministry shares snacks with the children of the church and others.

These provisions are offered by the contribution of church funds, families who have businesses, and donors who live outside the country. We all bond together to bless others in times of crisis.

South America Regional NCM Coordinator, Chad Dickerson, reports that NCM is working together with the local churches in all five of the districts in Venezuela to help them provide immediate relief. The Venezuelan people have been living an economic and humanitarian crisis for years. With the added pressures and complications of COVID-19, the church is rising up to the challenge along with NCM to show compassion to the most vulnerable in the community and congregation.
